"The Fifth Estate" — a semi-fictionalized account of the Wikileaks scandal, and its aftermath — hits theaters on October 18th, with Benedict Cumberbatch taking the lead role as the controversial editor-in-chief Julian Assange. And, as you can probably imagine, Assange ain't too happy about that.
Back in January, but just released yesterday by Wikileaks, Assange wrote a letter begging Cumberbatch not to continue with the movie. It's a pretty spectacular read, but what jumped out at us the most? Assange is basically a James Bond villain. His flowery prose and demanding statements are one eyepatch away from having a laser ready to blow up the moon.
So naturally, we went ahead and mashed up the best, most Bond-ian phrases from Assange's letter with shots of Cumberbatch from "The Fifth Estate" at his most dastardly, and added just one little flourish at the end... Mr. Bond:
