'Star Wars' News: Saoirse Ronan Gets Her Lightsaber, The Death Star Goes Tiny

Star Wars

By Alex Zalben

Because a day can't go by without some small bit of "Star Wars" news, today brings the tiniest news item of them all. NimbleBit, makers of the insanely addictive mobile game Tiny Tower will be releasing a new version called "Star Wars: Tiny Death Star." I've got a bad feeling about this...

...Specifically that the Star Wars themed game will be as fun and time consuming as the original, if not more so. Here's the official blurb from Disney Interactive:

The Empire needs your help! In collaboration with LucasArts and Tiny Tower creators NimbleBit, Disney Mobile introduces Star Wars™: Tiny Death Star™, a new game for mobile devices. Live life on the dark side and join Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader on a mission to attract Galactic bitizens, run intergalactic businesses, and build an all-new Death Star. Construct unique Star Wars themed locations to attract iconic characters and species to your space station in this 8-bit style game. Star Wars: Tiny Death Star will soon be available worldwide.

The game has a similar construction dynamic to the classic SimTower, if you ever played that. If not, basically like the blurb says you build floors, move in "Bitizens" and build your business. What sets the game (now games) apart is the adorable look of the characters, and the sense of humor. Point being, when can we put this in our pocket?

Speaking of pockets, or rather containers you take things out of*, Saoirse Ronan expanded on her "Star Wars VII" audition to Empire Online. The most salient, but kind of confusing bit?

"...But nobody has a clue what it's about, and nobody's read the script. So I've gone in and read for it, but I have to say, I think it's the only time I've ever thought, 'You know what? Even if I don't get it, I had so much fun auditioning, pretending to take out a lightsaber — out of a bag, kind of inspect it and not know what it is. That was... that was great. A lightsaber! Star Wars!"

What exactly does Ronan mean by this? Was she miming taking a lightsaber out of a bag? Was she auditioning to be a Jedi building a lightsaber, or perhaps this takes place in a post-Jedi Galaxy, where they don't know what lightsabers are?

Regardless, we want every interview about Star Wars to end with the actor involved shouting, "Star Wars!" from now on.

Stay tuned for more "Star Wars" news from MTV, up until Tiny Death Star comes out, and then goodbye forever.

*And also speaking of awkward segues...
