GDC 2014: early registration ends tomorrow

Edge readers heading to GDC in March should register before Friday in order to take advantage of the specially-discounted early bird rate.

The Game Developer’s Conference takes place from March 17-21, and is now in its 28th year. It returns to San Francisco’s Moscone Center and will play host to over 400 sessions led by speakers from all areas of game development, with over 300 exhibitors and sponsors present on the show floor.

Schedule highlights thus far include a postmortem of Shenmue, a studio-focused retrospective from former staffers at Lucasfilm Games, Nintendo’s How to Turn a New Leaf at the Animal Crossing talk and Adam Orth’s discussion of online communities.

Playable games will be present at GDC Play and within the IGF Pavilion, and there will be a flurry of other networking events, parties and on-site activities throughout the week, including the Videogame History Museum and the return of Doing It On The Table.

Evening highlights include the 14th annual Game Developers Choice Awards and the 16th annual Independent Games Festival Awards. Those looking for work in the games business can seek out the Career Center and several game career seminar sessions.

Developers who register before 11:59pm EST on Friday, January 31 will save more than 30 per cent on selected full price passes. You can register here.
