'Gravity' Is a Movie to Get Lost In

Alfonso Cuarón's space epic is a piss-your-pants spectacle

Stepping Into the Void: The Magic of Gravity

Starring Sandra Bullock as a rookie astronaut and George Clooney as the seasoned, smart-ass vet, the movie opens with 12-minute, uninterrupted sequence of the two working on the Hubble telescope. Suddenly, they get word from Houston that there's a problem: a Russian space craft has disintegrated, and the parts are coming directly for them. The accident leaves Bullock's character stranded in the void, but Travers has no spoilers – just unending praise for Bullock, who he says "has never been better in a movie in her life."

Thanks to Cuarón's deft touch, viewers feel like they're actually in Gravity and not watching it from afar. "This guy knows what pure cinema is and he creates it in Gravity," says Travers. "I just feel lost in the best way possible. Gravity is a movie to get lost in."
