Final 'Catching Fire' Trailer Takes Fans Inside The Arena

Take me out to the Hunger Games?

The final trailer for "Catching Fire" debuted during Sunday's World Series Game 5, less than a month ahead of the film's November 22 release.

The sequel follows returned District 12 tributes Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) as they embark on a victory tour throughout Panem. But unrest is brewing in the country, and with Katniss serving as the symbol of the growing revolution, the powers that be devise a plan to undo her once and for all: sending her back into the arena as part of a victors-only Games.

The minute-long trailer is stocked with new footage — a rarity for final looks and an intriguing maneuver by Lionsgate. To wit, during the roll-out for "The Hunger Games," the studio was careful to limit arena-based footage, showing only the briefest glimpse of the tributes rising into the clearing and barreling towards the cornucopia. Even the first trailers for "Catching Fire" focused heavily on the first two-thirds of Suzanne Collins' novel, leaving the final chapters to readers' imaginations. No longer.

SPOILERS AHEAD IF YOU HAVEN'T READ "CATCHING FIRE."

The trailer opens with our heroine foisting a bow over her shoulder and climbing one of the jungle's towering trees. She crouches in a lofty bough, taking aim at the surrounding force field... and there's plenty more where that came from.

We soon see the blister-inducing fog that paralyzes the tributes by attacking their nervous systems. And just as they're recuperating from the effects of the fog, they're surrounded by monkeys — or what they think are monkeys until the beasts bare their razor-like chompers, revealing they're muttations created by the Gamemaker.

Talk about a creature feature: jabberjays descend next, flocking around the tributes and screaming in the voices of their loved ones (hence, Katniss yelling Prim's name). As she tries to escape, she runs into an invisible wall, trapping her inside a wedge of the clock-shaped island, where she's tortured by the sounds of her family and friends.

And, finally, sharp eyes will also spot Peeta gifting Katniss with a locket that includes photos of Gale, Mrs. Everdeen and Prim. (What a charmer, that one!)

It all adds up to a Quarter Quell Panem will surely never forget.

"The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" opens November 22.
